Situated in the bustling Botanic Avenue of Belfast, Sakura Sushi Restaurant is the latest restaurant fit-out in Richmond’s portfolio of high quality design solutions.

Sushi in itself is a unique eating experience and the concept enhances this culinary first for Belfast. A purpose designed conveyor belt is the centre attraction on the ground floor, the first commissioned in Ireland. Customers sit at normal table height while individual Japanese and eastern delicacies are transported from the opening in the walnut glazing to the kitchen along a 7meter belt and return back to the kitchen. The perimeter walls are seated with a mixture of loose and fixed seating in textured oriental soft greens and browns. Wall coverings envelope the space in decorative patterns - organic in essence. A feature floral wall covering evokes the notion of ‘Sakura’ - the national flower of Japan.

The ceiling is open with a walnut finished lattice of beams crisscrossing the space and specially designed neo-Japanese lanterns in ‘green’ veneers punch through this lattice, bringing subtle yet focused lighting.

While ascending the feature spiral staircase to the first floor, you pass a number of recesses that house icons of eastern culture highlighted by a coloured Led. Arriving at first floor level you pass a full height back-lit wine display and open seated area. Again walnut finished lattice work brings a flavour of contemporary/ classic Japanese design influences.

The first floor is broken up by a series of sliding white glass screens giving the option for single, double or triple rooms. The ‘Sakura’ flower is woven into the carpet and uses subtle browns and pinks to bring a sense of luxury to these private dining rooms. Again lanterns strategically drop from the ceiling to light the spaces.

Sakura is another example of a unique design concept fitted out to the highest possible standards to specific client needs by Richmond. Having already completed the Red Panda at Junction One Antrim, Richmond continue to be sought out by Restaurateurs for their unique turnkey solutions.
