Formerly ‘The Tall Man’ bar and Lounge, Phoenix Bar is a quintessential example of contemporary/classic genre. A landmark building in Newry, the bar had gone through a number of fit-outs and name changes before Richmond were commissioned to design and fit-out the new ‘Phoenix Bar’.
The dated interior was a ‘mishmash’ of styles and finishes and problems were exasperated by a large raised area splitting the bar more or less in two. A pool room was isolated from the main space and was difficult to police. The W.C suite was tired and tiles were falling of the walls. Given also that other venues had recently refurbished The Tall Man needed to change or be left behind. A more ‘adult’ environment had to be created addressing the needs outside the main bar/club market.
A feature commanding bar dominates the space in natural oak, a finish which ties the scheme together and lightens the overall finish. With the removal of the raised the level the bar can ‘breath’ again and comfortable fixed seating complimented in rich reds and golds. A modern ‘striped’ red carpet exudes comfort and quality and meets a feature Nero black and ochre ceramic floor with a specially commissioned water cut ‘phoenix’ mosaic panel at the entrance.
The original pool room has become a comfortable Library Bar, away from the main lounge. This space heightens the levels of comfort in providing an intimate luxurious chill-out space for that more indulgent environment.
The W.C Suite is now on a par with any hotel. Classic tones of cream and ivory make this area warm and attractive and the finishing touch to this classic solution
The Phoenix Bar is vibrant in colour yet ‘grown-up’! It takes the lounge bar concept to the next level in providing for a more responsible mature clientele but at the same time allows the customer to experience yet again Richmonds commitment to quality craftsmanship and unique design solutions.
