Lir Bar fitout

bars

Set in the picturesque market town of Ballaghaderreen County Roscommon, The Lir Bar and Lounge is Richmond’s most recent example of contemporary classic genre.

The Children of Lir is a well known story in Irish cultural history with sibling children changed under a spell into beautiful swans. This underlying theme of change was carried through into the bar solution with what is in essence a traditional public bar space in one half evolving into a contemporary lounge in the other. Richmond’s client Mr. Colman Byrne was insistent that the new fit-out should appeal to a broad spectrum of clientele and provide a design that addresses all tastes and patron needs.

The public bar space takes detailing from vernacular bar design with its use of mahogany and timber T&G panelling. The colours are earthy and the random sized slate-like ceramic floor rounds off that which is the quintessential classic Irish bar solution.

The Lounge bar is however contemporary yet sympathetic to the public bar. The colours and tones - linens, dark wood flooring and hessian textured wall coverings are suggestive of natural or traditional materials used in days gone by.

The bar uses the latest patent contemporary timber conglomerate board as a decorative front and slips of LED light pierce this timber with rays of light. The red hessian shades to the light fittings punctuate the space and are over sized to support the linear feel of the lounge.

The lounge is modern and cosmopolitan not necessarily what you would expect in a market town but balanced with a traditional bar.

Richmond have once again achieved a classic benchmark in the design and fit-out with Lir Bar & Lounge.
