The Hillgrove is an established nightclub and hotel business, catering for a wide catchment area, and the only major nightclub in the locality.

It is situated in the picturesque town of Dingle County Kerry, world renowned as a tourist destination for spectacular scenery, cuisine and hospitality.

The nightclub was last fitted out in the 90’s and was tired, worn and full of clashing colours. The layout consisted of a central ‘sunken’ dancefloor with perimeter walkways and seating. Side doors opened up into an annexe area with the hotel where additional space and bars provided for increased coverage from 800-1200 patrons.

Whereas the overall layout was to remain the same, strategic design decisions needed to be taken on the bar, the seating and all finishes to surfaces. Coupled with a new lighting solution, the Hillgrove needed to show it had moved into the 21st century.

A feature oak bar commands the space with the inclusion of a new decorative paneling. this board by ‘Interlam’ is a conglomerate of natural timber and perspex, applied horizontally that allows colour changing LED light to glow from behind. The bar is linear and clean lined and enhanced by RGB colour changing down lighters that are interfaced with the main lighting system.

The eclectic and garish wall colours are replaced by softer more subtle finishes - the main wall coverings by Tektura are a ‘body’ colour in a natural ‘cream’ tone with an almost metallic sheen - reflecting the lighting. The feature colour to selected areas is again the same metallic sheen but this time in a vibrant variation of a dark copper. The seating fabrics marry with this in metallic sheens of gold and brown by Panaz fabrics.

The introduction of Degafloor Resin flooring to the bar front area achieving what is essentially a ‘poured’ carpet of fine aggregate pebbles, practical and complimentary to the other finishes.

Working in conjunction with Audiotek’s solution for the effects and dance floor lighting, Richmond have once again created a balanced design solution in an established business and this solution while understated and modern, projects the Hillgrove to the fore-front of Nightclub design solutions in Ireland. Coupled with headline DJs and acts, the Hillgrove can only move from strength to strength!
